Test Name: ABL1 Kinase Domain Mutation Analysis

Test Description

RT-PCR and sequencing of the BCR-ABL 1 fusion transcript for qualitative detection of mutations associated with resistance to imatinib and other tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Analysis includes detection of the common T315I mutation.

Specimen Requirements

• Peripheral blood: 4 mL in EDTA tube.
• Bone marrow: 2 mL in EDTA tube.

Storage and Transport

Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen. Ship same day as drawn whenever possible; specimens <72 hours old preferred.
