Test Name: Bacterial Vaginosis Panel with Lactobacillus Profiling

Methodology: PCR

Test Description

This assay is run on Open Array® plates performed on the QuantStudio™ 12K Flex Real Time PCR system for the detection and identification of up to 14 bacteria that may be present in the vaginal microflora. The semi-quantitative results and relative abundance are put into an algorithm to help predict Bacterial Vaginosis. The panel includes: Atopobium vaginae, BVAB2, Gardnerella vaginalis, Megasphaera 1, Prevotella bivia, Mobiluncus curtisii, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Lactobacillus crisipatus, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus jensenii, Lactobacillus iners.

Specimen Requirements

Cervical or vaginal swab collections. Acceptable specimen collection/transport containers are: •ThinPrep® Pap Vial
•Copan eSwab
•BD eSwab
Please clearly label vaginal swab collections into a ThinPrep® Pap Vial as VAGINAL.

Storage and Transport

Specimens can be shipped and stored at 2 - 8°C. If shipping temperatures exceeding 8°C are anticipated, use cool pack. Viability after transfer to collection/transport tube is:

•Copan eSwab: 10 Days
•BD eSwab: 10 Days
