Test Name: CD15
Methodology: Flow Cytometry
Staining for CD15 detects mature granulocytes and immature myeloid cells (excluding CD34+ blasts), as well as mature and immature monocytes. It may also be expressed by the leukemic blasts of some acute myeloid leukemia (AML). As co-expression of CD15 and CD34 is abnormal, this combination of markers may be used for minimal disease detection in AML.
Testing for this antigen is typically performed as a part of the acute myeloid leukemia add-on panel. For customized testing panels including this antigen, please contact the Medical Director of the Flow Cytometry laboratory.
Storage and Transport
Maintain specimen at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen.
