Test Name: CD22

Methodology: Flow Cytometry

Test Description

Staining for surface CD22 detects normal mature and immature B-cells and normal basophils. It is also expressed at variable intensity by most mature B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and precursor B-lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia, as well as in some mixed lineage acute leukemias (B-lymphoid/myeloid), which may show mostly cytoplasmic expression of this antigen.

Specimen Requirements

Testing for this antigen is typically performed as a part of the B-cell neoplasm add-on panel. Cytoplasmic staining for CD22 is also performed as a part of acute leukemia add-on panel. For customized testing panels including this antigen, please contact the Medical Director of the Flow Cytometry laboratory.

Storage and Transport

Maintain specimen at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen.
