Test Name: CD235A
Methodology: Flow Cytometry
Staining for CD235a (Glycophorin A) detects erythroid precursors and erythrocytes and is also expressed by the neoplastic blasts in rare acute erythroblastic leukemias. In our laboratory it is used for delineating the erythrocytes in the analysis for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.
Testing for this antigen is typically performed as a part of the PNH analysis. For customized testing panels including this antigen, please contact the Medical Director of the Flow Cytometry laboratory.
Storage and Transport
Maintain specimen at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen.
