Test Name: MUM1

Methodology: IHC

Test Description

MUM1 protein is expressed in a subset of germinal center B cells, plasma cells and activated T cells. It is also expressed in a wide spectrum of hematolymphoid neoplasms derived from these cells and in melanomas are labeled. In particular, immunohistochemical staining for MUM1 is useful in the classification of aggressive B-cell lymphoma, as MUM1 expression is characteristic of non-germinal center diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and is not seen in Burkitt lymphoma.
