Test Name: T-cell receptor gamma/delta

Methodology: Flow Cytometry

Test Description

Staining for TCR gamma/delta highlights a minor subset (<5%) of normal mature CD3+ T-cells in bone marrow and peripheral blood, while representing the majority of T-lymphocytes in mucosal tissues. It is also expressed by certain subtypes of mature T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (e.g. hepatosplenic gamma/delta T-cell lymphoma, primary cutaneous gamma/delta T-cell lymphomas) and subsets of post-thymic T-cell lymphoma/leukemia.

Specimen Requirements

Testing for this antigen is typically performed as a part of the T-cell neoplasm add-on panel. For customized testing panels including this antigen, please contact the Medical Director of the Flow Cytometry laboratory.

Storage and Transport

Maintain specimen at room temperature. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen.
